[7.007] No more email notifications

Our SG120 does not send notifications any more. Everything worked fine until the sending of notifications by email suddenly stopped. The notifier.log says

notifier[4827]:  WARN: #-- Failed: could not send notification: File exists!

Therefore I think this is not a problem with the smtp engine.
Doeas anyone have clue how to get notifications work again?

    Does the exim.log say anything about it? Normally, you should see some log lines stating that an email has been injected, processed,delivered...

    No, there was no entry at the exim.log. Seems like the message was not even delivered to the smtp service. I tried to find out by logging in with a wrong passwort and only found the error in the notifier.log.

    Surprisingly I received a status report this morning and notifications seem now to be working again. I wonder what happens to the firewall since I changed nothing the last few days. I'll keep an eye on this and tell if the problem comes back.
