hi
I have been using my astaro box as a router for quite some time now. however, I now want to make use of the socks5 proxy for surfing, downloading, etc.
Just surfing doesn't seem to be a problem but when I start a bigger download (eg a kernel from kernel.org) my download rate goes down to a 100 Byte/sec. Since I'm connected via german T-DSL (768 kbit downstream) I think this should be a little bit faster [:)]sec.
It's exacly the same with the http-proxy.
I know that proxies need more hardware resources but my astaro-box isn't that slow: EPIA VIA C3-533MHz, 128 MB, 10 GB UDMA drive (in UDMA mode), VIA Rhine II connected to internal network, Adaptec ANA62022 (port 1 connected to external net, port 2 is unused at the moment (will become dmz interface)). My Astaro Version is 4.0.12. DNS-Proxy is enabled.
while downloading, my system utilization looks like this:
CPU Utilization: Maximum: 37% Average: 7% Current: 9%
RAM Utilization: Maximum: 83991 kB Average: 79354 kB Current: 78390 kB
SWAP Utilization: Maximum: 4048 kB Average: 1498 kB Current: 4048 kB
Harddisk Usage:
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on

What am I doing wrong?
