VPN Users (CISCO) on iOS cannont send Email via SMTP

Hi there,

we have a big problem with our iPhones and sending E-Mails via SMTP.
The iPhones do connect to our LAN via CiscoVPN and get a static IP-Adress.

We have an internal e-Mail-server (KOLAB), where AppleMAIL on the iPhone connects to.

When i use AppleMAIL on the iphone, i receive new E-Mails via IMAP, but AppleMail won`t send E-Mails via SMTP.

Both Proxies on the Sophos, SMTP and POP are enabled.

Can anyone help?

    The iphones connect to the sophos (ciscovpn). each iphone gets its own ip adress from the sophos! then, the user connects to the mailserver to get new mail with the mail client on the iphone (imap account)  that works fine! when the user then tries to send an email, the client on the iphone doesn't send it out! the iphone user contacts the mailserver to send out the mail!

    the smtp proxy on the sophos is active!

    what i don't understand is, that everything is fine when the same way is made with notebooks and outlookclients!

    any other suggestions?
