retrievein IMAP accounts from external provider

Hi folks,

i´ve an ASG 7.511 working as a Mailgate for several domains.
Now i want retrieving IMAP acconts for a domain, which hosts at an external provider.

I think there is no way, to configure the Astaro for retrieving the mails instead of the clients.

Any Ideas, how to configure the Astaro, that i´ll be able to connect from the internal clients or internal mailserver to the external mailboxes?

    Bump. I am interested in this as well. I am currently not using my email protection due to only POP3 being offered. GoDaddy hosts our email and we are connecting to their servers using IMAP. Is there a reason why I should dump IMAP and use POP3? I am in the process of restructuring, including adding an email encryption device for HIPAA, and I am open to suggestions. I know...a very very open ended question.

    Guys, your best bet is to head over to Astaro Security Gateway Feature Requests: Hot (974 ideas)  and vote for IMAP support on the UTM... this is currently not part of the product.

    If you type in IMAP in the search box on the site, there's a request for this that has over 500 votes for it already, I'd chip in some more.

    Thank you for the suggestion...I should have thought of it before...I have voted for the feature.

    Or, how about the following?

    Configure an SMTP Profile for the domain with routing to the current host and relaying from the current host.  Configure the external mail server to use the ASG as both an Upstream host and a Smart host.  Finally, change the MX record for that domain to point it at the ASG.  Voilà! Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus before the mails even hit the external server!  Outbound emails also checked!

    If you're interested in this, Wingman wrote an excellent How-To about doing encryption for an external server that includes some tips that can be important even when not encrypting or signing emails.
