Whitelisting not working in 8.203?

So my wife is on a mailing list.  The emails are from "Improvements Catalog" .  She complains that 'release&whitelist' doesn't keep subsequent ones from being quarantined.  I have added the above sender to the explicit global whitelist, with and without '*' at the front (not sure if the '*' is needed for pattern matching), and it doesn't help - still getting quarantined?

    Also, I am a little confused.  I went to Reporting and Logging section, there is not SMTP Log there, just a Mail Security tab, but nothing under that seems to show details about specific messages?

    Check under 'View Logs'.  Instead of a single line, you will find maybe a half dozen related to the email.

    Ah, I see now, thanks.  Looks like what I was expecting.  I guess I'm out of luck getting anyone from astaro to look at this.  Maybe a couple of sites send mail that is not following some best practices wrt SMTP headers (as I freely admit, I am not an expert here), but when I've used other linux SMTP servers in the past where whitelisting was used, I remember having to put the From address in the whitelist, not Return-Path or Reply-To.  I have worked around it with the one site by doing *@*.***.com as another poster suggested, but it would be nice to have this either confirmed or disproven as a bug...

    There are several reasons something can be identified as spam - that's what I thought I might be able to help with after seeing those lines. This doesn't seem like a problem anyone recognizes, but it might be a bug depending on what the log says.

    Well, given the one specific site (the home improvements one), I can absolutely state with confidence that the from address never changes, but the Return-Path and/or Reply-To do.  Maybe that is bogus, maybe not (hence my waffling on that and wanting a more definitive statement from someone at Astaro.)  It is certainly confusing the the recipient, who sees the From line and clicks on "release&whitelist", and it seems to not work (due to other headers being different each time.)  Again, not meaning to seem ungrateful, I don't really care why ASG thinks it is spam, it is enough that it does, and the suggested remedy (release&whitelist from quarantine) seems to not work for at least the one site.
