i'm having a problem since a long time ago with outgoing mail and dealys/retries that has gotten out of hand.
example: user A send a urgent business email, for X reason it gets delayed or temporary retry, the user is happy that his mail has been delivered because the delivery report arrives as MS exchange HAS delivered the mail to the ASL...
now 5 days later the user receives a bounce from the ASL stating that the mail was never delivered.
You can imagine the world of *** that situation opens, a situation that has happened many times and sometimes avoided it because by chance i managed to find a queued mail in which i took a forced manual action.
What options do i have right now?, so far the only usable one is to bypass ASL smtp proxy and output directly as exchange lets me control the NDR reports granularly.
i haven't find ay way for ASL to notify that a mail has been delayed in a timely manner or to control those notifications(i need that the sender be notified 15mins after a delay happened, then every hour, then once every 5 hours then everyday, that's how i have exchange configured).
The problem has gotten out of hand today with a important mail that has been bounced by asl 5 days later without a single delay notification in those days, as you can imagine, the manager who sent the email wants blood [:@]
