proxy pop3 and not astaro gateway

QVICIO
good morning:

     My mail server is hosted on an external provider and I have Astaro  which not is the gateway of my network and i need that all customers to recover the emails through pop3 proxy in Astaro ..
  
    Clearly I have no configuration would have to have customers and Astaro ..

    The pop3 server customers have to point to the IP Astaro?

    The username and password for the mail account would take Astaro mail client outlook users?

    someone could guide me a little?

    I've never used the POP3 proxy, but if my reading of the manual is correct then it can only operate in transparent mode, which would require the Astaro to be your default gateway.  I don't believe it will work in your environment, but hopefully the real experts will chime in soon with a definitive answer.

    I don't know If this will work but you can try to redirect all the POP3 traffic from your DG to Astaro

    Im definitely not a "real expert" when it comes to POP3, but I'm fairly certain that Jetkins is correct.  In order for the Proxy, User Portal and Outlook to work together, the Astaro must be a transit point for POP3 traffic between the client and the outside world.

    Maybe you could show a network diagram to see if anyone has a suggestion about what you might change.  I'm thinking now that the answer may be related to your network topology instead of just settings in clients and the Astaro.

    If you want Astaro to provide Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus, etc. why not send all e-mail to the Astaro first via SMTP, clean it up, and then send it up to your ISP?

    This solution has no impact on your ability to use POP3 to get e-mails from your ISP.  It's just a way of cleaning your e-mails before you would POP them.

    However, you may be saying that you need a server from which to POP the e-mails.  In that case you're correct, this won't remedy that issue.

    I just wanted to see if I could help since my email is hosted outside my network and my Astaro is not the gateway, and everything works great for me. It sounds like we have a similar setup.

    If I remember correctly the only problem I ever had was SMTP not working as advertised (spam & AV) Remember our little dirty word tests [;)]
