SMTP transparent proxy not working

In order to use SMTP Proxy, you must have the MX record at DynDNS.org point at a public IP on the External interface of your Astaro.  The IP on your mail server should then be a private IP on your LAN.  It sounds like you need to turn DynDNS off on the mail server, switch it to a private IP and turn on DynDNS in the Astaro.

Thank you very much for your help...I'm sure the solution you told me is the right one..
I did what you told me and tried every option in Mail routing (DNS,Static host , MX)..But...
Still it didn't work!!
The Transparent mode is still not working...
When I remove the transparent mode..
I start receiving mails!!

I don't have "transparent" mode for SMTP activated anywhere - I don't understand why it's causing the issue you describe - perhaps someone else can tell us - I would say you should leave transparent unselected.

The only reason I can imagine being in transparent mode is that you have unexpected SMTP traffic that you want to allow.  Other than that, just leave it off.

I can do your suggestion but I feel that the SMTP traffic I'm receiving is not protected against spam....Because when I do a test..( Expreession filter..)...my mail client receives that mail...

The SMTP transparent mode setting has nothing to do with received mail in a classicly-cofigured SMTP-Proxy environment.  If the Proxy is enabled, then it will capture and manage all inbound SMTP connections for 'Domains' listed on the 'Routing' tab.

Are you doing a real test from a different domain sitting outside your Astaro?

The "transparent" setting relates to sending emails.  Normally, any but the tiniest organizations would leave "transparent" disabled, add their mail server to 'Allowed hosts/networks' on the 'Relaying' tab and set their mail server to point at the Astaro as the upstream smart host.

If you want to allow direct (authenticated or not) usage by individual users who won't/can't configure their mail client, then it would make sense to enable "transparent" mode.

Yes....I'm using DynDNS to point to my mail server..and as you told me I should place the DynDNS client at Astaro and make the MX record point to it...

I did that but I still didn't have the control over the SMTP traffic

I was having a similar problem.  I was using Astaro for everything, then bought some new hardware and as a result turned it off. Recently I turned it back on to find that I was no longer having spam blocked.

Today I have turned on Transparency and found that all of my email was being blocked as the recipient could no be verified on my Domino Mail Server.  So I turned off Recipient Verification and everything works as I would expect it to.

Domino Rejects invalid recipient emails and sends a denied message.  

I am thinking that I have Domino locked down so tightly that the firewall is not allowed to query the address book.

Whilst this is not the way you are supposed to do it, you may find it acceptable while working out your config bugs.

My understanding is that the transparent setting has nothing to do with email received from other domains "outside" the Astaro; if that'snot correct, I would welcome an explanation.

manvip147, your description sounds like you don't have the SMTP Proxy configured correctly and that you are allowing inbound SMTP with a DNAT.
