POP3 Mail Security - Safe Sender List

We've had Astaro for a couple years now, and the current version is 7.304.

I've been hoping to find a setting that would allow individual recipients to mark a sender as safe, similar to what Outlook allows.

Currently, there are only two solutions that I've found.

One solution is for the recipient to individually release the spam messages via the "Release" link in the email they receive which is titled "Quarantine Report for [recipient's email address]".  

The problems with that are:
(1) They can only receive the email at two preset times per day, and this frequency applies to everyone.
(2) They need to individually release each email.  For subscriptions they want to receive on a regular basis, this can become very repetitive.

The other solution is for the administrator (me) to create an exception rule on the WebAdmin, whereby any message from a specific sender will bypass the spam filter.  

And the problems with that are:
(1) If two users think differently about a sender's email address being always allowed through, one of them will suffer.
(2) The admin will need to be involved for every email address that someone wants to permit.  Not only will this take time with large organizations, but individual recipients might not want to bother the admin (or even know that they're welcome to, or who to contact).

    1.) Yes, the notification list can only be sent twice a day.  However, I think you're missing that individual users can check, and release, messages in quarantine at any time.  They just browse to your Astaro website and login (you have to set them up - but it can be automated with AD, eDir, ldap, etc.).

    2.) Once they're setup, individual users can add sender's to their own individual exception list (white list), and exclusion list (black list), at the website.  Of course you can add them globally as the admin too.

    3.) Users can also manage their own quarantine releases from the website - though the admin does retain control over the types of messages that can be released based on quarantine parameters.

    Thank you for your insight on individual users logging into their own version of the WebAdmin.

    It's pretty humorous that I don't even use that service (or remember the IP address for it).  If it's not obvious enough for me to do it, I doubt the 60 year old (on average) office staff would be apt to use it, either.

    It would be convenient, and user friendly, if Astaro configured the quarantine report email to be nearly as interactive as Outlook.  By that, I mean some link within the email to directly manage the user's whitelist, blacklist, and quarantined emails.

    For whitelisting, it would be convenient to have the checkbox option along with a button for whitelisting (or blacklisting) all checked addresses.

    You could setup a bookmark or favorite and drag it to the desktop to make it as easy as you can.  60 year olds can do it, and they will find it easy.

    As for configuring the list directly from an e-mail, I agree, and I believe Astaro is already aware.

    I hope so... The less user-friendly it is, the more we all suffer.

    • The user: missing some emails they desire.
    • IT staff: trying to explain to the user why they don't have control.
    • Astaro: IT staff posting dog-kicking threads.
