Quarentine Manager not working 7.008

Updated to 7.008 yesterday.  Have had some issues with the Web Security features, which are being worked through.

About an hour ago I went to use Quarentine Manager and got a cannot connect to backend message.  This happens occasionally, usually due to a timeout situation with WebAdmin if I leave it logged in for too long.  Normally, I can just close my browser, open it back up again, login, and things are fine.  In this case though, it still isn't working, so I think that it may be hung up.  We're in the production work day, so I can't reboot.

May or may not have anything to do with it, but in the process list I'm seeing this:

wwwrun    5983  0.0  3.3  22500 17256 ?        S    00:10   0:05  |   \_ /var/webadmin/qm.pl
wwwrun   23999  2.0  0.0      0     0 ?        Z    10:37   0:01  |   \_ [index.plx]
wwwrun   24007  1.9  0.0      0     0 ?        Z    10:37   0:01  |   \_ [index.plx]
wwwrun   24015  2.0  0.0      0     0 ?        Z    10:37   0:01  |   \_ [index.plx]
wwwrun   24023  2.1  0.0      0     0 ?        Z    10:38   0:01  |   \_ [index.plx]
wwwrun   24048  2.3  0.0      0     0 ?        Z    10:38   0:01  |   \_ [index.plx]
wwwrun   24259  2.4  0.0      0     0 ?        Z    10:38   0:01  |   \_ [index.plx]
wwwrun   24269  2.6  0.0      0     0 ?        Z    10:38   0:01  |   \_ [index.plx]

I'm not a linux guy.  Does anyone know the commands I could use to stop and restart the quarentine manager bits from the console?  The exact commands I would need to execute would be great.

Thanks.

  • Update:

The defunct processes do eventually go away, but still cannot access the QM page in webadmin.  I thing there's a problem with the parent process.  Maybe qm.pl, maybe something else.

  • Seems to work OK here... I don't know what this could be.

  • Yep, same here.  Just had another problem develop with the SMTP engine and greylisting.  Seems my Astaro is circling the drain after upgrading to 7.008.  This one definately needed to be in QA alot longer than it was.

Now I have three support requests in with Astaro.  One from 10:30 last night on the AV and downloading issue.  One from 10:30 this morning about the quarentine manager thing.  The third is the SMTP engine completely freaking out from about an hour ago.  Now 2PM my time.  I have heard back from Astaro support on none of them to this point.

  • While I can't chime in on the apparent greylisting issue (we nor any of our customers use it) or the Quarantine Manager issue, We did note the http download issue... they responded pretty fast this AM, turns out it is a bug with the download script... workaround for now is to use Firefox, or wait for 7.009 (which should be out shortly, it's a rather serious bug).  They did send me a RPM package that would fix the http proxy temporarily until the official fix is out... since it's not that big of an issue yet (admins can temporarily disable AV scanning to get critical downloads) I've not tried it.

I hear you on the QA issues; I've voiced my concerns about it directly to Astaro.

  • They finally got back to me.  The resolution on this issue is to reboot tonight and see what happens.

The reasons for the slow support response is a combination of factors.  They got hit with a huge number of support requests due to 7.008 problems combined with their ISP has been experiencing outages throughout the day.
