v5 Spam filter never works

In v5 you can run the Spam filter in two areas.  One as part of the SMTP Proxy, the other in the POP3 Proxy.  Which one are you trying to use?

Spam filter for SMTP on my 2 boxes here has been working fine.

Mine too. I have set the pop 3 spam settings to :

Pass : 1
Quarantine : 3

Most of the spam is filtered but still quite a few get through. Those emails i add to the spam sender whitelist ( it says in the manual to add spam email address in there to block them) but it still lets those emails come in. I have v5.011, the expression filter works but the spam filter whitelist doesnt. 

Also why do we have to set the pass quarantine settings on the pop proxy so aggressive. Must be a bug in the pop3 proxy still. Hope you guys resolve it soon.

whitelist is whom you wish to allow.not block so yes those will get through take them out of hte whitelist if you do not want them to get through.

I understand that a whitelist is suppose to let people who i want to go through. But in the U.S manual for Astaro Security linux it says quote: 

SPAM SENDER WHITELIST: This control list can only be defined for the spam protection option.Enter the email addresses of those senders into the list, who you wish to block.

If this is incorrect i suggest that Astaro revise the manual.

As for the spam filters i have tried different settings and still spam gets through i think that the heuristics engine needs a revamping. I have set the pass to 1 and the quarantine to 2 and spam STILL gets through. This is suppose to be the most restrictive setting.

If the manual says that(did not see that in the one i justt read) it is wrong..[:)]

after talking to our documentation guys,
they said this was an cut'n'paste error from the blacklist explanation, 
 in one of the first versions of the manual.

At April 10th they fixed this mistake.

If you download a recent version you will find the correct explanation.

I am having troubles with the POP3 Proxy in general. Not sure what part is really the problem; but the POP3 filters engines are not working correctly. I get many "Scanner Error" type messages and it starts blocking almost everything. Or it will block something on the whitelist. So, I just end up turning off the POP3 Proxy altogether. But since 5.011 that does not work cleanly either. I had to restart the Astaro Box to make sure it was not active.?? Most frustrating. Certainly not a commercial application with these kinds of errors. THe number level settings seem to do very little as well. It is either "ON" or "OFF"??

Sorry for the delay in my response was out of town. I am having trouble with the POP3 filter. No matter what I set it does not stop anything.

Got everything to work. Have the settings on

Pass: 2

Quarantine: 4

Catches 98% of spam will try a little more aggressive setting and add my contacts list to the whitelist so everyone I email will not be blocked. Also make sure you stop then start the pop3 proxy when changing settings. This helped me. Otherwise no other complaints. In fact pop3 proxy caught some viruses yesterday. Yeah!
