Who can help: SG 115 rev. 2 beeps

There should be 5 beeps after the OS has finished loading. Hook up a keyboard and monitor to see what's going on during the boot process.

The boot process is fine. No errors - but also no beeps.

Do you have a SG 115 rev. 2?

My home use UTM (http://networkguy.de/?p=269) beeps 5 times in a row after boot und during shutdown. My new business use SG 115 doesn't.

I think there are two possible reasons:
1. SG 115 rev 2. has no buzzer?
2. Buzzer is broken

Any additional ideas or someone, who can confirm beeps on a SG 115 rev 2.?

I don't have that specific model, but every other one does the 5 beeps. You may just want to open up a support ticket with Sophos to look into getting an RMA.

Ok, I open a support ticket. But...

Is the XG 115 device hardware the same as SG 115 device hardware?
Then I think, the new models don't beep anymore.

Look at the new Quick Start Guide for XG 85/105/115/125/135:
"3. Power it on
Connect the device to the power socket and turn it on
Connect the device to the power supply using the power cable from the scope of supply. Turn the appliance on. The power switch is on the back side of the housing next to the power supply plug."

And now, the Quick Start Guide for XG 210/230/310/330/430/450
"3. Power it on
Connect the device to the power socket and turn it on
Connect the appliance to the power socket using the power cable(s) from the scope of supply. Turn the appliance on. The power switch is on the back side of the housing next to the power supply plug. Once the security system has booted completely, you’ll hear an acoustic signal: five beeps in a row."

Who can confirm "no beeps" or "five beeps" after boot/shutdown of SG 115 rev. 2?

SG and XG models are the same exact hardware, SG115 is the same as XG115. It's a matter of whether the UTM or XG software is factory loaded. XG series come with the XG OS, SG come with UTM. Support should be able to let you know if they've made undocumented changes to this.

Official answer from Sophos support:
The beeps are heard only at a ASG or UTM.
The SG or XG device no longer contain these acoustic confirmations.
