asix ax88179 usb 3.0 ethernet adapter

hi,

has anyone tried to use an asix ax88179 based usb 3.0 ethernet adapter on latest sophos utm?

I see that asix.ko is shipped with the 3.12 kernel but it seems to be an old one.

/lib/modules/3.12.30-102.g530c8bd-smp64/kernel/drivers/net/usb/asix.ko

maybe someone already has one of these adapters at home and can test.

or any other usb 3.0 ethernet adapter available that works?

thanks

  • Hi,

I know it's been an old topic, but I have actually purchased Axago usb3.0 to Gigabit adapter with a chipset ASIX AX88179. I have to say it is unstable. On the 30Mbps solid link I get about 6Mbps stable. Perhaps it is my setup I can't tell yet. I'm using UTM 9.3 virtual appliance on esxi6.0. I haven't tried USB2 yet, but after playing with different settings for the past 3 hours I'm really disappointed. I know esxi xHCI driver is working fine, because I'm getting decent speeds on external drive that's passed through to the Windows VM. I hope that's something that can be fixed soon, because I don't have a room on my lab machine to add more NICs...

Have any of you tried this yet with same results?

    Cheers
