ASG 220 - 8300 version

Hi,

1. Do you know how much RAM is in it?
If 1GB, 8.x would be the last version recommended.
If 2GB, 9.x is possible, but you may have trouble if you are using most of the features.

2. what version are you running now?

Running 8300 version with 1 GB.
By the way is it necessary to do anything special with the HA or I can update the master and it will synchronize with the slave without any action?

In the dashboard they appear as connected in the ETH but in the HA table, the STATUS in UNLINKED.

find attached some pics about configuration. HA appears as UNLINKED and I do not understand why.

With only 1GB of RAM, you should update to 8.316 and no further.  If you want to go to v9, speak with your reseller about buying newer model appliances.  You really want to go this route as v8 has already hit End of Life meaning it is unsupported.

Probably at the end, we will upgrade machines to SG210 instead of upgrading UTM Versión in the ASG 220. 

Which will be the best way to backup and restore all the configuration in the new models?

Morning Nacho,

Upgrading between appliance models is easy enough. All you have to do is have a current config backup on hand and a copy of the new license file for the SG210. Keeping the unit disconnected from your production network, start the initial setup process per the quick start guide then during basic setup, import the config file and reboot. Once it reboots, login to the IP address of the saved config, upload the license file and the unit is now ready to swap over when you have a maintenance window.

The main gotcha with any appliance model swap is that any locally stored logs and cached data from the web & email filtering modules will be lost. Not such a big deal for the content filter but for the spam filters, make sure all emails are cleared from the queue before swapping units, and export any system logs you might need.

After forwarding these steps, I need to prepare a HA. Should I do anything special on the second appliance?

Once you have a working single SG210, setting HA on the second SG210 is the same as it'd have been with the pair of 220's. Just be aware you can't HA different models together so a SG210/UTM220 can't be in a HA pair, only dual SG210 or dual UTM 220.
