Sophos UTM SG 550 - Will it be fast enough?

Hi All,

I have no experience with the Sophos UTM and am looking for some advice. We're currently looking at the Sophos UTM and the reseller has suggested we go for the Sophos UTM SG 550. We have a 1Gpbs line and between 2500-3000 simultaneous users. Does anyone else use the SG 550 in a college or university? If so, do you think it will be up to this task?

Hi, Peter, and welcome to the User BB!

If you're thinking of a upgrading to an Active/Active Cluster, it would be cheaper to get a 650 now if that's what the numbers say (they suggest a thorough evaluation as suggested by Drew and Bruce). If your reseller has firmly recommended the 550 and you're planning on a Hot-Standby (Active/Passive) unit later in the year, then that sounds good.
