Home use license support, wrong /etc/issue and hostname changes to lowercase

Hello there,

first of all one question:
Iam a home user with standard support. I found out that i can't open a support ticket over myutm.sophos.com. Which partner should i contact for general support?

Here are my two problems/questions anyway. Maybe you can help me.. [:)]

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The file /etc/issue shows the wrong information after a fresh reinstallation of my Sophos-UTM. There are two interfaces:
1_ External _WAN_ 192.168.255.254/16 _eth0_
2_ Internal 10.0.0.1/8 _eth1_

Allowed networks for WebAdmin = Internal _Network_

When i start my Sophos-UTM or enter the command _cat /etc/issue_ i receive the message: _.. Go to https://192.168.255.254:4444 .._ - but it should be the ip of the other interface.

Two questions now:
- How can i fix this issue?
- How can i delete the whole content of _etc/issue_ _its filled with the wrong information every reboot_

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Hostname should be _Sophos-UTM_. After the installation everything was fine. But when i now look under hostname everything is lowercase like _sophos-utm_. I can_t change it to _Sophos-UTM_ any more. Is it a normal behaviour?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Hi,
first thing, as a home user you don't get support from anyone but this users forum.
Secondly why are you using these commands rather than the webadmin?

Thirdly, you don't need to delete that information, it will be corrected when you connect and manage the utm through the webadmin.

I would suspect that your internal interface is not active, eg no cable connected.
