i3-2120 for a 300Mbps fiber link?

Hi guys, am looking for input for the following configuration.

This will be used in a home environment. I don't intend to have IPS enabled, and HTTP proxy caching will be turned off. I have a 300Mbps fiber link to my home, and I intend to do a site-to-site IPsec VPN (for development with Azure).

This "appliance" is actually a used OptiPlex 980 SFF, with an additional PCI-e GE card.

The specifications are as follows:

i3-2120 (2x 3.3 GHz)
2GB of DDR3-SDRAM
250GB HDD

Thanks!

  • I have to agree with bruce.  I'd go core i-5 at least 3.0 ghz.  Make sure if you are going to move that much data you have 4-8 gigs of ram.
