up2date is failing

UTM 9 home user

After being rather slack and not running updates for a while (there were quite a few ready) I clicked on the "Update to latest version now" yesterday. It did the first few, and then stopped.

The web UI shows

Current firmware version: 9.210-20
Latest available firmware version: 9.303-2

Todays up2date log looks like

I think the key part is as below, but I'm not sure

id="371J" severity="error" sys="system" sub="up2date" name="Fatal: Version conflict: required version: 9.209008  current version: 9.210020" status="failed" action="install" package="sys"

Currently you cannot update to version 9.3 from 9.210-20, only from version 9.209.

That would explain the message, but it points to the up2date process being broken

it was two days ago, lost a day somewhere...

Is there a way of backing out the update and then updating ? or am I going to have to do the SSL/TLS fixes manually ?

I know I could do a backup, clean install and restore, but I as that would dump quarantined email, I would rather avoid it if possible...

You can use my version change trick to Up2Date to 9.3 now.

For others, there's now a 9.210-to-9.304 Up2Date available, and that should get downloaded to your UTM soon if you'd rather not get it manually from the FTP site.

I ran into this problem and used the delete procedure covered here;

Up2date Troubleshooting: Sophos UTM

Deleted all the previous queued updates and manually uploaded the latest 9.304. Everything then updated to 9.304 without issue.

I would go to the FTP site, and download the 9.21-20 to 9.304. It's a straight update to get to the latest version. It was put up very recently, so you don't need to update to other versions to get to the latest.

I believe that this is a consistent failure with Up2Date and seems to run every other version. It was working fine in 9.1, then stopped working in 9.2 altogether, and who knows with 9.3.
