Does "Sophos" look at these forums?

There are a handful of us that are "power" users of Astaro/Sophos UTM that would like to either invest or find a way to allow us to continue to help out even though we have gone beyond the 50 ip address limit that the free licenses provide.

I have reached out to support for a power 100 IP license renewal, and have even asked to see what it would cost to just buy additional IP licenses, but its always rejected/ignored.

I have been running on PFsense now for some time because I can't limit our network at home here... its not out of line anymore... even my light bulbs have an ip address!

Hello Sophos... can you give us some way to let us help you?

    I hope they don't ditch it. I'd bet half the beta testers are the ones using it in their home.  As far as the 50 ips. That is only for something the firewall routes. I don't see why lightbulbs etc need to have internet access or be routed. I have a ton of stuff, but since the majority of traffic status on local lan it doesn't get counted as an ip.

    That only works if you don't use the UTM for DHCP.

    I'm still not sure how on earth you are using that many IPs.  Even with 4 people, I can guarantee my setup is more robust than what most businesses actuall have.

    Get yourself an HP ProCurve 1910-1920 series switch and make the gateway the VLAN interface on the switch and block traffic that doesn't need to go through the firewall.

    I love being "called out" by people here... Not really sure why your so ready to defend a product that I love against me, but whatever.... Or never mind, its a great product and thats exactly why I was willing to pay some cash to use it in my home like I have been doing so for the PAST 10 years!

    Called out???? Hardly... Just pointing out their business model and your lack of control over your network.

    Anyhow... NAT tricks and all the other garbage are not worth it when PFSENSE works out of the box for my needs, but I was willing to pay them to increase my 50 IP license to cover what I have going on in my home.

    Double natting is hardly garbage if you know what you are doing. PfSense hah good luck with them idiots. I loved the project but with them pulling the source and you have to sign with your blood to do commits and the ever so pleasant owner gonzoponcho. I always loved PfSense but trust me they are trying hard to kill that project. 

    Enjoy what you have... I sense Sophos ditching this at some point and everyone will be out at some point anyhow.

    Additionally.... I had a 100 IP license and its gone.  So its great when people that have one rub it in your face.

    Its a business, if they change their business model in the future, I won't be happy about it but I certainly am not going to keep making posts in the hopes for some free stuff[8-)]
