Hello Sophos... can you give us some way to let us help you?

  You can actively participate in the public betas, when those happen, a couple of times a year, but issuance of 100 IP licenses for participation was discontinued a few years ago.  

I have reached out to support for a power 100 IP license renewal, and have even asked to see what it would cost to just buy additional IP licenses, but its always rejected/ignored.

  Support may not engage non-paid license users, this is company policy.  Sophos does not sell direct, so if you wish to purchase a license, you need to contact a reseller.  A Full Guard 100-IP software bundle will run about $3500 for one year licensing.

Ian has given you a hint above what you need to do to work within the 50-IP limit of the home use license.

Are you saying that you have had success in getting additional IP Addresses?
I would gladly play "some" money for more IP's and still retain my home user license status.
They should sell "IP Packs" as add-ons.  It would be a gold mine for them.
A home user will not shell out the 3 grand that they want for a full product.  But a hundred bucks is do-able.

As always no traction on this, I suppose at some point when users have so many internet connected devices in their homes like a few of us, they will just drop home user support.

Its disappointing that a person is willing to evangelize and promote a product, and then the company itself while Astaro and now Sophos has issues supporting the people that love it the most.

In the end, I know its about money, but I can tell you that as a 30 year IT professional that works in information security as a job, it used to be pretty cool to have a setup at home that would make work look like swiss cheese with competitive products and lack of policy enforcement!

There's a frustrating trend in the industry to drop free offerings, or even paid versions with restrictive licenses for tech pro's to use in labs and home. Vmware once offered vSphere to tech pro's for a decent subscription price. Now the best I can afford is a $500 essentials license which is lacking all the good stuff. MS once offered TechNet which gave access to restricted licenses of everything (including DOS & WfW incidentally) but that's cancelled and the closest, if you are a Microsoft partner, is a $350/year package that gives you Windows 8, Office 2013, Server 2012r2, SQL Server, Exchange, Lync, Sharepoint, and Dynamics, plus Office365. No older versions for legacy testing, unless you were in the program when the older versions were current.

Sophos by comparison is offering a 50IP license which, if you know your license pricing, is quite generous of them. It used to be 10IP's so a 100IP license is imo beyond generous. And I can see there being a risk to Sophos in offering these because I sure there are folks out there using these "Home Use Only" licenses on work systems. By limiting IP's, they keep that in check to an extent while not totally crippling legit home users.

I think the reason TechNet got canned was due to abuse.  I had TechNet at one point, got a whole year for $99.  They included 10 licenses for each product, and even a WHS license in that package.

But, inevitably, people started *selling* the TechNet keys, and various other abuses.  They went to 3 licenses/per software, and now it went away.

As I understand it, people are starting to abuse the DreamSpark licensing as well now, which will probably push that out, too.

I don't know if us home users are truly "helping" Sophos, unless they're collecting network data from our installations, with the exceptions of the betas mentioned.  But, it is awesome that they are providing a free home license--with endpoint protection.  I don't think there's anything out there that competes with what Sophos is offering in their home UTM for free.

I'm saying that if you ALREADY have a 100-IP power/home license, there is a decent chance of getting it renewed.

If you don't already have such a license, sorry, as they haven't given any out in several years.

actually it is now $500/year.  No legacy versions available either.  luckily i downloaded all of my entitlements BEFORE the technet was cancelled.  Coming from a Microsoft partner with Action pack subscription.

It's gone up then? That or special intro pricing for the first year. [:)]
