Premium License for Hobbyist?

yes it is ridiculous...once i can afford it im' going to buy 5 win 10 pro licenses and then 1 win 10 server and one vm license and i'll cancel.  That might be the last MS products i run o my network after that if they don't relent a bit..

Still holding out some hope that someone at Sophos will hear us out and increase the ip count for power users that make a request or can provide some sort of proof that they aren't enterprise users gaming the system....

I have to agree with the others.  Giving 50 IP's is more than generous especially since you get to use all the features.  Also, what on earth are you doing that you have 50 IPs?

I'm running 2 VMware hosts, Synology DS1813+, multiple computers, home automation, and I've never come close to hitting 50.

If you use Ipv6 you will hit the 50-IP Limit realy fast..

We are a fairly tech heavy family of four, without teenagers yet, and we are running in the mid-40s on a consistent basis.  And that is without IPv6.  They go quickly.

Offering a 50IP bundle is extremely generous. What Sophos gives to home users for free (with a few customization's disabled and no support except through here), lists at one online vendor (1yr 50IP Full Guard bundle) for just over $2000.

For me, having to workaround an IP limit by creative NATing is a small price to pay for an enterprise level system. [:)]

wow. 50+ IP power home user ha. Raise your right hand and say you are not an enterprise user and a license is on its way[8-)]

I have a 100 IP license and stretch my usage more than most.
2 roku
1 amazon fire
2 xbox
1 ps3
3 phones
3 tablets
6 PCs with ipv4/6
3 laptops
2 Vmware servers with random vms accessing the internet
4 Internet enabled TVs
2 Blueray DVD players
3 DirecTV receivers
4 IP cameras
2 SIP devices
1 Backup power generator 

and maybe some other devices that I can't think of right now and I am still under 50 IPs.  I could add my guest wifi access behind astaro I suppose and that would increase my IP count. I could also use ipv4/6 on all my laptops and connect them using wifi and ethernet and all of a sudden those 3 laptops use 12 IPs. I can now call myself a power user but I sure as hell am not going to gripe about my license limitations because of that.

I have had many issues with sophos but there is nobody out there that can match their generous home license offering.

I love being "called out" by people here... Not really sure why your so ready to defend a product that I love against me, but whatever.... Or never mind, its a great product and thats exactly why I was willing to pay some cash to use it in my home like I have been doing so for the PAST 10 years!

Anyhow... NAT tricks and all the other garbage are not worth it when PFSENSE works out of the box for my needs, but I was willing to pay them to increase my 50 IP license to cover what I have going on in my home.

Enjoy what you have... I sense Sophos ditching this at some point and everyone will be out at some point anyhow.

PFsense is good but even with it's addons it doesn't offer the security features that Sophos UTM does in any way.

I'm saying that if you ALREADY have a 100-IP power/home license, there is a decent chance of getting it renewed.

If you don't already have such a license, sorry, as they haven't given any out in several years.

i had a 100 ip license..one day when i tried to renew it it got downgraded to a 50 ip..no explanation given.....[:(]  As i am a Sophos partner it's irrelevant right now..but should that change it would be nice to have that 100 ip license around..[:)]
