Home license will not apply correctly

Just got a new box to use for my firewall, but not all is wonderful...

When I applied my existing home user license the only functionality that is enabled is "Basic Functionality". Everything else is disabled.

To make sure it was not a license issue, I went and deleted my current home user licence on the licensing portal and created a new one.
This applies just fine to my old box, but it still does not work on the new one.


I had recreated the entire firewall configuration from scratch, so I feared the worst and thought that I had done something wrong. I took a backup of all my work then applied a backup file from the old box. It reported that all was fine but I still have the same problem.

The only real difference here is that when I did the UTM install on the new box I elected to use the 64bit kernel install (9.106)

How do I fix this????

    What hardware are you installing on? Is it an 'official' Astaro/SOPHOS appliance?

    Why does everyone always want to blame hardware?

    I am installing on a core 2 duo workstation with 3Gb of memory.
    The installation works fine... I just cannot apply the license successfully.

    I just need to know what's going on with the license.

    Because the home license doesn't work on "official" Sophos hardware appliances, that's why we ask for your hardware.

    I was at a loss so I redid the installation and chose not to install the 64bit kernel. 
    I don't know if that was the cause or not, but after doing so I could apply my license to the install.
    If I get the time I will try to do the installation again with the 64bit kernel option.

    There is no documentation that I found that says you cannot install the home license on the 64bit kernel.
    Is there any reason why I might have experienced this issue?

    It's definitely not an issue with 32 or 64 bit kernel. Home user licenses are just for software installations, so you have to make sure you use the software-ISO (asg-***) but NOT the hardware-ISO (ssi-***). That could maybe caused the issue.

    Thanks for the suggestion, but that is not the issue, as I did use the ISO install.
    As mentioned... the install went fine, as did all of the customisations. I just could not get the license to apply correctly and give me all of the features that should have been there.

    I am not new to Astaro; I have been using it for over ten years now, but this is the first time I have ever encountered licensing issues like this.

    OK. Please post contents of /var/log/confd-debug.log when trying to apply the license.
