Trying to install 9.1 UTM on old server but keep getting bug error

Hi all,

Im try to install UTM 9.1 on an a server that we had sitting around unused.  It is setup with RAId 1 and RAID 5.   Im trying to install this on the RAID 5 partition and for some reason when I run the install I get the following: Bug at helper.c:1752

Any ideas?  Thanks!

    Hi ,

    The UTM only supports few RAID controller for raid , and probably yours is not one of them .
    Even if you configure raid probably it will see those hard drive one by one.
    So please break the raid and don't use any raid on the system .
    Try to install from scratch without raid.
    Hope it will work for you.

    Well it actually saw the RAIDS with out any issues.  I did what you suggested and broke up the RAIDs and still I get the same bug error.  Im going to go ahead and assume its probably my hardware its not compatible with.

    Hi, can you post the hardware specs, including server or motherboard model, amount of RAM, and the disk controller and NICs?

    Please post /var/log/messages after BUG occurs. With a keyboard you can switch to another console.

    The specs of the mainboard can be found here 

    I have 6 140GB SCSI drives in there
    4GB of RAM

    I think its the drives thats causing the issue.  Not 100% sure though.  This is an old custom server. about 6-9 years old.  Just wanted to try and re-purpose it.

    2. I don't see any info about RAID on the link you provided. Are you using an add-in RAID card (which one?), or is there RAID onboard?

    That thing is old dude.

    That's an old Netburst Xeon @ 533 MHz FSB which means no 64bit (that required the 800MHz FSB). DDR (PC2100) RAM. The RAID controller at least is supported, the AIC-7902 showing on the v9 HCL (per astarosupport.org)

    It will run v9 but I'm concerned it may not have the oomph to support any significant user amount. And that thing will suck juice like crazy in the process. I have four IBM servers of the same vintage I haven't touched since we decommissioned them, mainly because they suck too much electricity and I'm not willing to pay the electrical bill.

    Thanks everyone for your responses and help.  After digging it seems the server hardware is to old....not a big deal.  I had a desktop computer that had dual Ethernet on it that was just collecting dust, I was able to put that to some use [:)]  She is running and seems to be performing pretty good.  Thanks again guys!
