Adding more Ram to UTM9?

I am running UTM9 software at home on my Intel Atom box with 2GB ram. Ever since one of the recent firmware updates my memory usage has increased from 1 GB to 1.6+ GB and so I would like to add another 2GB stick of ram. Is it true that all I need to do is add the extra stick of ram and UTM9 and it will recognize and use it? Do I need to modify any settings? Reinstall?

I picked up a Mushkin 2GB SODIMM but my UTM9 device would not boot with it in (GRUB boot loader error). The timing on this SODIMM is not exactly the same as my original so I was thinking of ordering the exact same stick of ram as my original.

    You should use the same stick in order to get the UTM running again. 
    Also check wether or not you motherboard is able to run with more RAM than you now used 2 GB. Maybe you need a bios update also. A bad or not complaint mem-module could certanly give the errors you stated. 

    I have 4GB of memory in my server, but it uses only 3,5 or so because it is not a 64bit system.

    FYI, my Atom n270 and other early Atoms only support 2GB max, but most of the newer ones support 4GB, and the server models support 8GB.

    By the way, do you have a good survey, max. RAM support (and which memory type) with the different UTMs versions and revisions?

    your boot issues is a ram incompatibility with the mobo..the software doesn't care about ram timings..once you get a compatible stick the software would work just fine.  NOw if the incompatibility has caused data corruption then that is a different story.

    Are you asking about the appliances? Because this thread was about a home user running on an Atom PC.

    There are several threads in these forums about adding memory to appliances, but that normally voids your warranty.
