upgrade V7 to V8 ASG110

Hi all

I have an ASG110 which has to be ugraded to V8 and later to V9

ugrade fails without message via Web Interface

and also fails via CD

I had a look in console mode after failure and noticed that the pre_install process fails as it doesnt detect ASG hardware .......

I'm really confused as this device is a real ASG110 appliance ...
and it seems that some appliance specific HW 'tag/signature' is invalid ....

if this 110 has an active subscription get support involved..[:)]
how old is this unit?

Hi Williamm,

unit was installed in 2010
I will open a case at support on tomorrow ....

if it can be of any help, device is a 220 not a 110 as I said previously ....

Please post ASG hardware model & revision so we can tell if v9 is supported.

ASG220 V4
manufactured Oct 2009

my initial goal was to smoothly upgrade from V7 to V8 to be able to migrate existing configuration, and then upgrade to V9 ....

For ASG220 rev.4 UTM v9 is supported but not recommended as can be read here

If you don't have an USB CD/DVD-ROM or ASI/SUSI USB stick, you have to go the v7->v8->v9 U2pDate upgrade route. This will take some time and it's not possible to do this in one step.

If you have, though, you could simply create a config backup, download the current v9.101 SSI ISO and install using the stick or USB CD/DVD-ROM, then apply the previously created config backup. When re-imaging using the ISO, you'll loose all existing reporting data. That way is a LOT faster in your case.
