Home license not accepted by ASG220 v7.4

Hi Sophos Admins,

I've been deploying Astaro ASGs and UTM for a few months now . Recently I bought my own (used) ASG220, it was quite cheap, off ebay. The hardware's from 2006 and i just did a factory reset as soon as it came. I got my home license on the myAstaro page and tried to upload it to my newly acquired used ASG. Unfortunately it tells me, the license cannot be used.

I don't seem to be able to go on before a license is uploaded to the ASG, it says

"Your license has expired

The currently installed license for this product has expired. In order to continue using Webadmin, please upload a valid license below."

When I upload my current home license, the interface tells me

"Information

The uploaded license is invalid."

Even after a factory reset I can't seem to access the 30-day trial period and then try to offline-activate the ASG.

Did anyone else have a similar issue or, better, know how to solve this issue?

Thanks and best regards
Daniel

    Private Setup:

    • XG: HPE DL20 Gen9 (Core i3-7300, 8GB RAM, 120GB SSD) | XG 18.0 (Home License) with: Web Protection, Site-to-Site-VPN (IPSec, RED-Tunnel), Remote Access (SSL, HTML5)
    • UTM: 2 vCPUs, 2GB RAM, 50GB vHDD, 2 vNICs on vServer (KVM) | UTM 9.7 (Home License) with: Email Protection, Webserver Protection, RED-Tunnel (server)
  • Long story short; you cannot load a Home License (special Software license) on an ASG or UTM hardware device if it still has the factory OS on it.  You can wipe the drive with another utility, and you should be able to install a software ISO (prefixed with "asg-", not "ssi-") on it just fine.  Note that the LCD will not work, and the Ethernet interfaces may not be ordered correctly, but it will work.
