I realize that there are a lot of Threads regarding a RAM upgrade, but i never found a helpful Answer how to do a 100% working upgrade. So maybe this helps:

We have an ASG220 rev2 with 1GB RAM factory installed.
I upgrade this Device to 9.004-34.
After this, i change the original RAM Module to a 2GB Kingston KTH9600BS/2G Module.
After reboot the ASG shows 2GB RAM in Web GUI, RAM Usage decrease from 85% to 60%.
Easy Job, no BIOS update or other "hacks" necessary. Unit is working fine since a week.

I think i will do it next year - cheaper than hardware refresh. Dealer told me i need to refresh to UTM 320 and pay for hardware and also for software - about 6000Eur (I allready have bought subscription for 1 year, but he told me i need to buy it anyway with new UTM 320) So i need to invest about 10 000 EUR in first year

2GB RAM don't cost more than 30 EUR [[:)]] - just checked

Wait for the next problem and the support call (they will check any hardware changes).
Now, you save a lot of money, but if the UTM makes problems ... Have fun.

Unfortunately support for me in Latvia is very slow.
I need to contact Lithuania people - who forward my requests to Germany.
So there is like ping pong. me-Lithuania-Germany-Germany-Lithuania-me.
And this ping-pong continues for weeks now.

Thank God there is no such emergecy today - i need to setup Site2Site-VPN with checkpoint in a few month. Support is looking at this problem for 2 weeks now.
But what if I had a big problem like i had with my http-proxy, when i waited for month (so every day 100 people were screaming at me, why internet is so slow) when my problem was resolved.

So long story short - it is faster and cheaper for me to build machine without support, than wait these weeks.
I hope this will get better - support guys is one team and developers is other, so no personal feelings, just facts [:)]

Another story from Latvian company with more than 300 unhappy users, problems with swap and proxy, after 2 weeks support suggested hardware upgrade. My temp solution - nightly proxy auto restart ;( Don't see any need for such support, just allow officially upgrade RAM.

But i have a question, are you using a normal subscription? Sometimes they want to tell you, that the license isnt working when you upgrade the hardware.
