license usage

I have set up an ASG110 with network protection, web security and wireless protection with 10 user license.

Now I continuisly receive critical alert related to license usage exceeding the 10 users count.
The strange is that I receive alert also when no one are connected and I have also see that some of the ip address listed as active are old and not in use.

There are two desktop and an hotspot with a couple of users.

how many IP address are you using, you may be able to perform a term sacrifice and click upgrade protected IP's

Just have a look in your arp cache.
The UTM count all protected IPs (generated from the arp cache).
- printer
- mobile devices
- access points and so on

Things like printers don't usually need internet access...what you do is set them staticly and leave the gateway blank then they won't hit your utm and that IP will open up

sorry, but this will not work, respectively this is not the solution.
without default gateway, the MAC adress of an client is still in the UTM arp cache.

That cache expires as long as the device doesn't ping the gateway...which leaving the gateway blank solves...means once the cache expires the entry remains clear. I use this with clients all the time..

Once a device is no longer passing traffic through the Astaro, it will drop off the license count in 7 days after the last contact.

How big is your DHCP range?

After subtracting the static IP's from your user count, the DHCP range should never have more IP's to hand out then that remainder.
