Cheap soultions for a sophos utm gateway?

I use an Foxconn barebones case I picked up from Newegg for my house of 5 devices, 2 users.  It's fantastic for this environment and very low power.  I have all of my core network devices on an APC battery backup, and total load is no more than 35-40w (NAS, Astaro box, switch - ISP router is elsewhere in the house).  I just had to supply the memory and HDD for it, which I already had.  [:)]  I am seeing a 1mb limit in downloading for some reason, and speedtest.net shows 6-10mb downloads on all of my tests.  I've tried it with both web protection on and off, not sure where the bottleneck is.  Both NICs are 1Gb ethernet.

It is the Foxconn R30-D2 (Newegg link, so you can see the specs)

I had an electrical storm that shorted the board out, so I had to replace the board, but haven't had a problem since.  I have had this since 2010.

hrmm it's discontinued at amazon and newegg..is there another one to take it's place?

Yes, Foxconn always has new models.  You can find them all on the Foxconn site, Newegg, Amazon, etc.  The model I have is two years old now but works well.  They rotate the cycle of the systems about once a year or so.

Like Ian stated the ideal would be to have an AP-30 because it can be managed inside the UTM and also probably offer better security.

But if you are looking for something less expensive I can recommend the Asus RT-N16. It’s classified as a wifi router but there is an option to have it run strictly as an AP. I had the RT-N16 for a year and it is very stable and the wifi performance is great even if you have a lot of wifi devices working at the same time; never had any issues with it. In my home network the RT-N16 hold and manage the allowed wifi MAC list and forward the allowed MAC to the UTM for DHCP, Web filter rules and internet access. That setup works well but managing the RT-N16 is done outside the UTM.
