UTM on an ASG525:A2

I just tried to install UTM 9 from CD on a 525, and the installation program detects it as an ASG525:A2, which I thought would be enough to run version 9, well it says it's not.
It seems to detect only 2G out the 4GB of RAM (I could be wrong reading the log), but in any case it doesn't want to continue.
I thought this was a very capable box, any workaround to get v9 installed?

  • Jose, this is something you would normally run by your VAR / reseller, but I'll be happy to help... post the 1st 6 digits / characters of the 525's serial number, and let me check my compatibility list.

  • Well in this case I'm the reseller.
As I indicated, this is an ASG525 v2, which is not supported for UTM v9 and I'm wondering if there is a way to force it.
From what I can tell, this box has a dual Xeon 3.2 GHZ with hyperthreading, 4GB of RAM and 320GB with Raid 1, isn't that enough?

  • Well, for the equivalent load (as to what that Rev. 2 can handle with V8 or V7 on it), with multiple features enabled, it's probably not adequate; that's probably why Sophos has it listed as not supported.  Considering that a 320 now ships with as much RAM your old 525, it's kind of self explanatory in that to handle the same workloads, with the more advanced features on V9, more RAM is required.
