Why does my 9.0 Home System Regularly Reboot?

I was using Asatro on a Pentium PC since version 6. It has always been rock solid. The system would only fail if there was a power failure. A few weeks ago I started  testing the 9.x beta. Within a few days I noticed that the system was restarting about every 24 hours or so. There was no apparent cause. I figured it was a beta problem. I should reported it.

On Saturday I installed a new copy of 9.0. Since then it has restarted twice that I know of (I knew because I was online and I lost Internet connectivity).

Any idea how to troubleshoot restarting problems? Is there a log that tells me the cause?

10 devices including four lightly used Windows PC's

    v9 and a pentium?  I would check the cpu temp...it's entirely possible just the sheer weight of v9 is taxing the cpu and ram so much that they've become weak with age.  i frankly would invest in new hardware.  AMD e series and intel atoms are good home platforms.

    v9 and a pentium?  I would check the cpu temp...it's entirely possible just the sheer weight of v9 is taxing the cpu and ram so much that they've become weak with age.  i frankly would invest in new hardware.  AMD e series and intel atoms are good home platforms.


    Thanks for the response. no indications of an CPU problems despite record heat. The CPU is in an air conditioned basement which averages around 70 degrees F this time of year. The last reboot occurred at 6 in the morning when it was very cool.

    In the last week the CPU hit greater than 50% only twice with a high of 68%. Avg CPU utilization is 1.42%. Max memory usage in the past week is 24% and the avg. is 3.25%. The system was purchased in 2009. Things can go bad when you open a new box but its seems unlikely that a CPU and RAM working great with 8.x until recently would suddenly start exhibiting problems. Anything is possible.
