Hardware exchange??

Astaro doesn't normally have any special discounts for hardware upgrades. You may however want to speak with your local partner as they can sometimes talk their Astaro sales rep into giving you a bit of a discount.

That said, where a new version has required a significant bump in hardware, Astaro has usually come through with some sort of deal for users of older kit. Back when they bumped the minimum RAM to 1GB from 512MB, there were some upgrading discounts. At the time, a RAM kit was made available to owners of newer units and a steep discount was given to owners of older kit that physically wouldn't accept 1GB dimms.

I've heard rumors floating on the wind that there could be another discount deal in the works for v9 but that is literally just that, a rumor. [;)]

Astaro really doesn't make much on the hardware, so there's not likely to be much of a discount, if any.

When they did the last round of "discounts" for people, it was under the old licensing model that included some of the software costs in the hardware pricing.  It won't surprise you that the discounted cost became the new cost under the new licensing model. [;)]

Yeah, I don't see them offering much, if anything in terms of HW discounts .. as Bob stated, they've decoupled the hardware cost from the licensing (a pretty smart move, actually), so new hardware cost is a lot less than it used to be.  Check with your partner for details.
