200/20 Mbit hardware?

Hi All!

Have been testing a lot of different FireWall UTM releases, using VMWare and chose Astaro as the clear winner for our use.

Our internet line is 50/10 Mbit today, but our Internet provider (get.no) max line are 200/20 Mbit. I would like the Astaro box to be able to handle that speed with full UTM functionality.

We are 4 users, have 4x Mac´s, iPads´s, iPhone´s, AppleTV, PS3 and a Qnap NAS. 

Where thinking:
Intel i3-2120T (dual core 2.6GHz)
4-8GB ram
2x Intel PRO Giga Nic
Intel 40GB SSD 
Intel DH61BE mAtx Motherboard
(IntelRegistered Desktop Board DH61BE)
Lian-Li or Silverstone case

Will this be able to handle this without us losing any  speed, or should we go for a i5 Quad Core?

    ssd's only help in large installations with tons of logging.  Also Astaro doesn't support TRIM AFAIK so an ssd might not be the best idea over time.  Full UTM could mean anything.  I have 5 machines here at my house but i'm not using 50% of everything..BUT our loads really are helped by having 4 cores.  One client of mine is using nearly every feature but honestly the quad box i have them on is big time overkill(which is going to be served by the new ECC platform i am migrating them to) due to the light loads they have.  A dual core would actually serve them better than the power sucking quad they have going now.

    You are right that Astaro doesn't support TRIM at the moment.  Although I might have read that it's coming at some point.  Obviously the world is going that way.

    As for the quad CPU's they've really helped quiet things down for some of our clients.  Definitely fewer problems when running a full suite of Astaro.  And the latest Intels are much better about power usage than earlier generations were.

    But all that said, for home use and because I see that bill every month, I use Intel Dual Core Atoms to make a 24/7 Astaro that only sees heavy usage a few hours a day, reasonably power efficient.  Unfortunately, I don't expect to see a quad core 8Gb Atom for a while as I think Intel doesn't want to steal from their I3's.  But once they do come out with it, I'll be all over it, as I'm sure many others will be too.
