Up2date prefetch failing

Up2date started failing about thirty minutes ago, and looking in the log it appears that the servers started failing about 90 minutes ago:

All other communications are fine - the problem appears to be limited to the up2date servers.

    I am still seeing what appears to be this same error for both up2date software and pattern checks.  The latter is more concerning (I can manually apply software updates).  I am seeing this on multiple firewalls and all show code=500 errors in the up2date log.  

    "Could not connect to Authentication Server 184.72.238.199:443 (code=500)"

    If this means a 500 reply from the Astaro servers then if I recall a 500 is an internal server error.  Is the problem on my end or are there still problems on the Astaro side?  I've been seeing this for some time now.

    P.S.  What really concerns me about this on the Up2date --> Overview page in web admin its telling me everything is fine and I have the latest firmware and patterns.  No indication that anything is failing.

    I'm sure one of the established experts will correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, occasional errors such as you are seeing are - if not exactly normal - nothing to be particularly alarmed about because there are multiple redundant servers to cater for occasional hiccups.

    It's when you see a bunch of them in succession, followed by
    [FONT="Courier New"]All 6 Authentication Servers failed[/FONT]
    and
    [FONT="Courier New"]Up2Date prefetch failed[/FONT]
     that you have cause for concern.

    Thanks for the quick reply.  It pointed out I wasn't clear.  All of the servers are failing.  That's why I was concerned that the web interface seems to be telling me everything is OK and there is nothing to download.  I haven't received a pattern update for days, possibly weeks (I was traveling over the holiday and the logs were not being checked in detail).  Firmware I can download manually, but I'm not aware of a way to manually update patterns.

    Search in the Up2Date logfile on installed.  It appears there have been 3 or 4 Avira patterns every day, but nothing other than version upgrades this month (and one GeoIP).

    Search the same log for prefetch failed to see if this is happening all the time or just a few times and so isn't anything to worry about.

    This has been going on for a while.  I didn't post a question right away because I saw a thread that indicated there were some temporary issues and I wanted to see if things recovered at some point.  No such luck though.

    If you have a paid subscription, you should ask your reseller to submit a support request for you.

    If not, the best you can do is search the last 60 days of the Up2Date messages logs to see exactly when this started, and then try to find what change caused it.
