APC UPS not recognized

Astaro Security Gateway uses NUT for it's UPS infrastructure, I would suggest that you see if your UPS is supported by NUT at the following URL:

There is a Knowledge Base article relating to UPS in Astaro Security Gateway, but I think that it is a bit outdated please see at the following URL:

The XS Series units are "hobbled" ... you need to either use a Back-UPS or Smart-UPS version of an APC UPS for communications between the ASG and UPS to work.

I asked the customer to double check that he had the cables in "tight" and he said "try it now". UPS popped up on the dashboard with 100%!

So it MAY have been an ID:10T problem.

Was not able to test a power fail, so will have to wait to report a complete success with the XS.

As far as compatibility with the cheapest....

Tried the APC ES 550 ($49.99 at Costco in Canada) and it is recognized right away and sends correct status signals to the ASG. Expect over 15 minutes of power when adding the other networking gear. Enough to send an alert, wait for the hydro automatic reconnect and, if this does not bring it back, a graceful shutdown.

I some of my installations I have been "piggybacking" off a server UPS and relying on it to generate the warnings. However, at the low cost and size, it makes sense to throw a dedicated UPS on each ASG and have dedicated team. (As long as the network gear and email server stay up long enough the deliver the messages)

APC Back-UPS XS are supported by NUT via USB (newhidups) drivers.

Sorry, was thinking about another series of APC UPS I had trouble with in the past...
