ASG 120 Rev 4 RAM upgrade options

Hi All

I am interested in upgrading my ASG to 2G but I am not sure which RAM to get. The existing RAM is "apacer 1GB SOD-5300 CL5" and judging by the pin numbers seems to be DDR2. However I would like your view on whether I should go for an upgraded RAM -same brand(i.e. Apacer Notebook Memory DDR2-667 2GB SOD PC2-5300 CL5 ) or a Kingston/Corsair one? Has anyone noticed any compatibility/ performance issues when upgrading RAM?

PS it would be awesome idea if the ASG appliance had a full specs A4 attached when shipped so people know what's inside the box [:)]

    There isn't any official upgrade kit.  It's an upsell situation.  If you want more memory, you need to buy a higher grade appliance (In this case it would be a 320 with 2GB memory).

    Upgrading it yourself would kill the warranty as well, as this is tied in with support.  They could say that you broke it while doing an unsupported upgrade with inferior components.

    Given the source of the appliance and that you'll be using a home license anyway, just go ahead and do it yourself and don't worry about it.  I'm curious to know if a rev.4 120 can go to 4GB or if it is limited to 2GB by the chipset.  

    My little warning in the last post was more for the sake of paid license users with a 120 who may come across this thread in future.  Don't want them to get into trouble.  [:)]

    Couldn't agree more.


    The 120 Rev 4 goes up to 2 Gig and since I am a home user I might go ahead and upgrade. Any ideas regarding the RAM module? I am trying to get the Apacer Notebook Memory DDR2-667 2GB SOD PC2-5300 CL5 but I can't find it online [[:)]]
