Dear all.
I think about creating a selfmade ASG. My thoughts are to use probably a DELL Server on the one hand or a selb buildt PC on the other hand.
I would like to use a SSD harddisc to increase the power of cached files for browsing. In my case we have many employees which are browsing simultanously and we need a bloody fast proxy system! So I thought using a SSD would be best practice. Now I have seen that there are problems using AHCI... and because of this I have some questions.
Has anyone tried to use a DELL Server with one or two Quad Cores and at least 16GB of RAM as ASG?
Has anyone tried to use a SSD (6 Gbits/s) with full performance configured as AHCI?
Has anyone used a AMD 6 Core with at least 16GB of RAM?
Is it possible to use a HA cluster with two similar DELL Server?
All in all I am afraid of driver problems. And additional to this I would like to know if I can really increase performance by using a SixCore CPU or more than 4 GBytes of RAM. I am looking forward to hear and learn from your personal experience. Thanks in advance...
