ASG 8.200 Soft-Release

Hi Everyone,

Today we have made available the soft-release of ASG 8.200. You can read the full release notes here.
The posting which outlines this exciting release you can read in its entirety on our Up2Date blog. Please carefully note the part about Web Security Reporting data being cleared.

As with all soft-releases, you must download ASG 8.200 as an Up2Date, manually import it into WebAdmin, and install. We will monitor the release for any major showstoppers until about *Update* Mid-August. As with most big releases, we'll likely follow up with an 8.201 shortly after that as well.

I'd like to thank everyone in this community who participated in making 8.200 such a stellar release. We'll eventually close down and archive the Beta forums and other end-of-project results, and then get right to work on the next cool things we have in mind [;)]

    FYI we have replaced the up2date package currently being offered with a new one that solves a bug which prevents the WebAppSecurity engine from starting. up2date.astaro.com posting has been adjust accordingly.

    Hi AngeoC,

    How can i handle the up2date when i have already upload the issued one? Can i just upload the new one and the old one will be replaced and is ready for applying?

    Meerkat, you can log into the shell (or console) as root, and edit the /etc/version file to read 8.103  ... then you can manually upload the new up2date file and install.  Note that logging into the shell in this manner may void your support (if this is a production unit) without the blessing of Astaro Support.

    Unless you are actually using the WAF feature, I'd just wait until the inevitable GA release, which is likely to contain more bugfixes.

    maybe another one has this problem:
    installed the 8.2 softrelease. Fine, everything ok.
    Activated the "Terms of Use" feature in the WebAdmin settings. -> No webadmin login possible anymore.

    i fixed it that way:
    go to CLI with root access (either SSH or direct access with keyboard).

    1) cc
    2) OBJS
    3) user_preferences->webadmin->REF_......
    4) skip_terms_of_use=1
    5) w
    6) exit

    webadmin login works again!

    btw: why didn't I hear anything from the confd command-line client at the ACE training? cool feature! dangerous, but cool feature!

    Doesn't the wifi issue only affect AP10s and using wlans? It doesn't seem to affect AP30 in bridge mode.

    What I find it strange there is no mention of fixes for the http proxy which was highlighted by many users in the beta forum.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback, I've made some notes on how things might be clearer in the future as well.

    To summarize, we release a package "softly" then push it. This is  directly to minimize the impact of anything major which is just the  nature of software updates, no matter how hard it is "tested".

    Normal (non ubb) users who do not closely follow our releases and  branches would just end up seeing 2 up2dates available, thanks for your  feedback everyone. I'll close this now in preparation for the release of  8.201 and 8.200 via our Up2Date infrastructure, the associated 8.201  ISO images, and the corresponding Up2Date blog post.

    You may return to your regularly scheduled operations. [:)]
