ASG 8.200 Soft-Release

Hi Everyone,

Today we have made available the soft-release of ASG 8.200. You can read the full release notes here.
The posting which outlines this exciting release you can read in its entirety on our Up2Date blog. Please carefully note the part about Web Security Reporting data being cleared.

As with all soft-releases, you must download ASG 8.200 as an Up2Date, manually import it into WebAdmin, and install. We will monitor the release for any major showstoppers until about *Update* Mid-August. As with most big releases, we'll likely follow up with an 8.201 shortly after that as well.

I'd like to thank everyone in this community who participated in making 8.200 such a stellar release. We'll eventually close down and archive the Beta forums and other end-of-project results, and then get right to work on the next cool things we have in mind [;)]

    Hi Angelo

    There are a number of Bugs with no assigned mantis and others still pending feedback/or not yet reviewed etc. What is the current plan for the relevant posts?

    @Wingman:  The mantis database has many more bugs, features, and changes listed than are publicly listed.  They all have IDs, but are for Astaro internal knowledge only.

    @Everyone else:  For those who never RTFM, there is one thing to be aware of in the release notes:

    *Note* - Installing ASG 8.200 will clear existing Web Reports! This is necessary as the 
    database systems are vastly different. Soon, we will offer the ability to “re-inject” a past Web 
    Filtering log from 8.103 into the system so that you can control when this system-intensive task 
    will occur.  Log files are completely untouched and remain intact on the system as configured! 
    If you rely on existing Web Security reports, do NOT install ASG 8.200 until the re-inject 
    feature has been released in a future Up2Date!

    Congrats, all those new features are quite nice. I'm afraid I didn't had the time time to contribute to the beta this time (next time I'm going to take part in the beta again).

    I have one question about the new virtualization support: I'm running ASG on Hyper-V since a few months, it is running fine albeit the network interfaces' status isn't shown correctly until now, even after the 8.200 Up2date. Will I need to do a fresh install to get Hyper-V support?

    Given that Astaro isn't so good at on the fly hardware changes, I would expect that you'd need to do a fresh install.  If it were me, I would u2d the current install to 8.200 to get an 8.200 config backup, then do a fresh install and upload the new backup file.  8.200 ISOs will be available at the same time as GA.

    hey astaro.  could you please stop releasing betas as soft release or even GA's?  This is getting annoying.  I have two 8.2 machines that are unusable with the http proxy on..at all.  Even in the "supported" configuration.  I haven't even tried WAF yet..not sure i want to either.  I'm not sure 8.2 is really fully baked.  This is terrible QA on Astaro's part.  I used to deploy up2dates without question form Astaro.  No more.

    If they are so poor on major revision upgrades..why do they keep pushing them out?  v4 updates rarely had the kind of showstopper problems asl 5, 7, 8, have been consistently demonstrating.

    There's major issues with the http proxy.  I'm not deploying anymore 8.2;s until this thing is truly GA and not a continuing beta.

    Having the same problem with http proxy.  My configuration is

    @dknyinva:  One of the current issues has to do with wi-fi having a poor interaction with the spoof protection function.  It's causing erroneous dropped packets.  Try turning off spoof protection temporarily and see if that helps.

    Something seem to have broken my Full-NAT as well. My server is no longer reachable from outside..
