MD RAID1 Kernel Modules

I use the ASG 8.103 Home product on my own hardware, IBM xSeries 335-61x. I love it!
My built in RAID controller (LSI 53C1020 SCSI Controller) stopped working, MPT error 40000200h,devfn=8.
I'm having to use an Adaptec 29160LP Low Profile Ultra160 SCSI Controller now.
Is there anyway to get the MD & RAID1 kernel modules. I'm really uncomfortable running off one hard drive without RAID.

    Assume that you have a second drive installed and that whenever you finish applying an Astaro Up2Date to the primary drive, you manually mirror it to your second drive.


    Hi Bob, how do you do the mirror? afaik, using dump or dd won't give you a consistent snapshot of the postgres databases, for example.

    There is also the issue of knowing when there is an impending drive failure. If the system starts to get seek errors on writes, does Astaro send out notices, for instance? If not, then the need for being able to monitor disk health becomes very important still. The Linux MD suite supports monitoring, as do hardware RAID controllers. Support for either is lacking with Astaro and that, to me, is a fairly big gap.


    Astaro seems to be lacking disk monitoring (via SmartD or whatever) for all systems, including their own appliances.

    I think I'm signed on to that feature, Barry.  As for the mirror, as you know, I'm no Linux guru, but it seems like it should be easy enough to build a script to copy everything, quiesce PostgreSQL, copy the databases and then restart it.
