Trying to find a dual-port PCI half-height NIC

I can't find anything Barry. The problem with half-height (low profile) cards is that they tend to be longer. The chips and traces have to go somewhere.
 
You might be better off trying to find a replacement motherboard with dual-nics built-in.

If you can suffer using up two PCI slots, Intel's Pro 1000 GT Adapters might fit your bill. They're rock solid, low profile, and well supported in Astaro. Just be sure your vendor specifies the version with the low profile bracket. [;)]

Unfortunately I need to add at least 3 ports. Also, the 620 SFF looks like it has only one PCI (and one AGP slot), 

I also have some 'desktop' models which have 2 PCI, but one is weird so a PCI-X probably still won't fit.

Could you post some good pics of the backs and insides. I am seeing mixed versions of the Gx620 SFF. One ultra SFF and one SFF. I had some ideas of how to get it working for you i.e. RJ45 extensions and flexible risers like this one. Logic Supply - Leaders in Mini-ITX & Small Form Factor Solutions

As far as dual port NICs go. I have never seen a dual port 32bit PCI low profile NIC. I tried HP, COMPAQ, Allied Telesyn, 3COM, Intel etc etc etc.

I looked at the manuals for the 620 and 745 SFF and Desktop models, and they seem to have mistakes in the PCI sections.
The 620 SFF (not USFF) has a standard PCI slot, and another slot which may be PCIe 16x. If so, perhaps a PCIe NIC would work.

The 745 Desktop has 1 PCI slot, one PCI slot with an extension which is NOT long enough to be PCI-X, and apparently a PCIe slot. (the manual describes it completely differently)
I'm worried that a PCI-X card may not fit in the second PCI slot, but again, maybe one PCI and one PCIe card might work.

All slots are 1/2 height.

The 620 has other components in front of the PCI slot so a long PCI-X card may not fit.

Maybe I should try to find some cards locally so I can return them if they don't fit. I'll have to check Fry's, Best Buy, etc. and see if they have any.

I'll try to take some pictures in the morning.

I was looking at some DP83816-based cards from another vendor, but it's not clear to me if they will work in Astaro 7 (they did work in 6)... the SIS driver is missing in 7, but there is a SIS900 driver; I'm not sure if it's the same.

Unfortunately, this is just for a quick-fix; I need a system with 4 NICs I can take on an airplane so I can limit downtime while rebuilding our old HP with a newer version of Astaro.
I have an old PIII with 4 NICs, but it is quite bulky and heavy.

I misspoke earlier; the 745 is a 'desktop' model, but is otherwise as described above.

Pics of the 745's and 620's slots are attached.

I'm sure now that the darker slots are PCIe x16.

I'd still prefer to use the 620 as it is smaller (and easier to take on a plane) but the 745 is available.

I managed to find a low-profile quad-port PCIe NIC; it's very long and has a large heatsink, but I think it will fit in at least one of the servers (hard drive is right next to PCIe in the 620sff). Hopefully it is supported in ASG 7.5

I got the Intel PRO PCIe NIC, and it fits. I had to update the BIOS on the Dell to get it to recognize the NIC, and it's working now with the 7.507 ISO.

To anyone considering the Dell gx620 SFF systems, DO NOT USE.
They run terribly hot; the NIC was almost too hot to touch after only being on for a few minutes, and hard drive is very warm.
We had several of these at work, most had failed power supplies or other maladies; had to piece this one together with other spare parts to get it running, and it's still got two leaking capacitors on the motherboard.

I had to cut the blue wire on the fan to get the fan to run faster, and now it is seriously too loud; it gives me a headache from 5 feet away.
