Trying to find a dual-port PCI half-height NIC

Hi, I need to get a couple of NICs for a SFF PC (Dell Optiplex GX620 with the SFF case)...

It looks like a PCI-X NIC will probably not fit in the case, so that rules out the Intel PRO NICs, and I'm not having much luck on Google, Newegg, ...

So, I need to find something that is:

1. compatible with ASG v7.5 (and hopefully v8)

2. Half-Height PCI (not PCI-X as too long)

3. easy to find in US with efficient shipping (I need it by 3/10)

Any recommendations?

    Just a thought. You could get a  Zalman Fanmate or Solder in a Micro Potentiometer to the fan to at least find a balance between cooling capacity and noise level. But I am sure you have already thought of that.

    Since you are close, I believe I have an extra fanmate around here somewhere if you want it.

    To anyone considering the Dell gx620 SFF systems, DO NOT USE. They run terribly hot; the NIC was almost too hot to touch after only being on for a few minutes, and hard drive is very warm.


    I've found this to be true of many SFF cases. IBM had a brilliant idea a few years back to put high end P4's with a 115 watt TDP into SFF cases. They run fine, till a fan seizes up. Next thing you know every component in the case has been heat soaked to 50C and the machine is pretty much toast. When CD's warp inside the drive, it's too hot in there.

    This is why I only buy/build SFF units where the power supply is a laptop brick. 80W, sometimes 120W, is about what I build to.

    Thanks for the offer, but it's just for temp use while I upgrade our v6.3 firewall to v7 or v8.

    I looked at the other two gx620 SFF systems we had laying around; they all have leaking capacitors on the motherboard (presumably in the power regulation stage, as they are large caps). Horrible.

    Looks like it comes with low profile bracket also


    Barry can't use PCI-X on that board as the extra length interferes with components on the board.
