For several years, I've been using a 25 user software license on a pc with 5 NIC's (only using 3), with 2Gb RAM, and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 BE-2300 (Brisbane). I originally built it, since I was concerned that 512Mb RAM in the low end boxes wouldn't be enough.
The pc continues to serve us well, but it would be nice to have a rack mount device and raise the cap on the number of users.
On any given week, there might be 15-20+ user's, using mostly Internet and POP/SMTP mail. CPU averages below 5% and memory around 28%. We don't have the mail filtering option (couldn't afford it), but do use most of the other features. If the price is right, I might buy the full guard license for the 120. How much traffic can a 120 process, when used with all the UTM features enabled?
The organization has an 8/1Mb cable connection, we might double the speed in the next year or so. We're currently running 7.509 and will move to 8.x in the coming months.
One concern is that the unit only has 1Gb RAM - is that enough (for v8)? And, can the ethernet interface marked HA be used for other purposes other than HA.
