we have to replace a current installation and consider an intel X3450 or better
on a Supermicro board (X8SIx series). The chipset is intel 3420. The NIC (82574L)
seems to be ok, but what is about the HD controller? Does someone know if
it works?
I found postings that i.e. Asus P7F-C/L4 which has the same chipset is running
V8 without problems, but does the V7.5 also? Unfortunately there are no sucess
report for recent xeon hardware and V7.5. Both HCLs are of little help.
Upgrading to V8 is not an option. We use ipsec-vpn, dns-, http-, smtp-proxy
and ips without any A/V subscriptions. Our Gold Maintenance expires end of
2012.
