I'm considering an ASG 220 hardware appliance as an upgrade to my current ASG 110/120 appliance, which I reformatted and set up as a software appliance so I could use it with a home license. If I were to use the ASG ISO to similarly repurpose an ASG 220 for home use, I realize one difference from a regular hardware appliance is that the WebAdmin dashboard will not show the graphic of the appliance itself (not that big a deal). Would another limitation be that the LCD display on the front of the ASG 220 would also be blank with the software appliance ISO installed, since this is specific to the hardware appliances?
Personally I quite like running the ASG software on Astaro hardware, since I'm pretty much guaranteed no compatibility issues and it's purpose-built for ASL. It's a shame that home use license cannot be used with hardware appliances (I'm not sure of the reason why?), but if anyone out there is able to clarify the limitations above I'd be very grateful.
