astaro 320 video question

Hello, I recently starting working on an Astaro 320 and am trying to put in a video card but am having trouble getting it to work.  I'm pretty sure this is an older 320 since it has an 80gb HD and no on board VGA port.  It's got 2 USB in front and back as well as two COM serial ports (1 in the front and 1 in the back).  Every time I plug a video card into the PCI slot, I get nothing.  Also when I try to connect through console with putty I only get a bunch of random characters which is unreadable.  Any suggestions?

    Hi, lafant, and welcome to the User BB!

    I believe that your's is the first-ever comment of this type concerning an old 320.  I know that there are some older 220s with no 15-pin female VGA port, but that have an on-board VGA controller.  You likely can find info about that by searching site:astaro.org with Google.  I have such a 220, but my first attempt to buy a plastic header for a cable to plug into the motherboard was unsuccessful.

    The old 320s do have onboard video.  Look for a 15 pin header on the MB.  A standard VGA cable to fit that header should work fine. (basically, pin 1 to pin 1, etc.)  YMMV, however.

    The old 220s did have a wierd pinout; I've had to custom make a cable or two when the oem ones dissappeared.
