Your ASG Appliance V8 Upgrade Experience

With 7.508 being made available last week as a soft-release (FTP Download & Install), we would be particularly interested in your experiences with the upgrade option which allows the migration of an ASG appliance running 7.508 to Version 8.002. As this feature will be made GA near the end of this month, your feedback would be valuable.

Did this process meet your expectations? If not, where can we do better? Let us know here, along with any questions you might have.

    I went from 7.505 to 7.508 by "installing to latest release" and then hit the upgrade to v8 Button. 


    So 7.508 has finally been published as official upgrade? I have seen no news in up2date blog, nor I see 7.508 firmware available [8-)]

    Nope, not via integrated up2date. I just downloaded it from ftp and uploaded it via webadmin manually. But since I hadn't installed 7.506 and 7.507 it was just added as a third update and I clicked "update to latest version" when all 3 showed up there.

    Well, this got fixed by replacing my ASG and importing the backup file. Seems it was a hardware problem. Unusual coincidence that it happened after the upgrade to v8.

    Edit: Funny, after I replaced my old ASG I went ahead and cleared it to factory defaults. Out of curiosity I logged into that again and surprise surprise: the interface is back! Must have been a problem with the upgrade after all!

    To answer a question asked, the 7.508 GA version will appear via up2date content push sometime next week. [:)] more info will follow then!

    Yesterday i have upgraded an ASG 220. After the upgrade I have the same issue that the Network Connections won´t work. This issue i got with an ASG 120, too.
    After a reboot via ASG Display-Buttons it seems to work.

    Now i try to upgrade another ASG 220 but when i choose initialize Upgrade i get the Error Message: 
    Upgrade failed: Could not connect to the FTP server.

    Is the Up2Date Server not available??

    Successful upgrade two ASG 525 (HA).

    1. Update to 7.508
    2. Shutdown slave
    3. Remove slave node
    4. Switch HA off
    5. Upgrade to V8 went fine (with smpt-spool/quaratine)
    6. Rebuild slave with V8 image
    7. Switch back to HA mode.

    No issues.
