Your ASG Appliance V8 Upgrade Experience

With 7.508 being made available last week as a soft-release (FTP Download & Install), we would be particularly interested in your experiences with the upgrade option which allows the migration of an ASG appliance running 7.508 to Version 8.002. As this feature will be made GA near the end of this month, your feedback would be valuable.

Did this process meet your expectations? If not, where can we do better? Let us know here, along with any questions you might have.

    I upgraded one of our ASG 120s with no problem. It did take a long while to upgrade from 7.506 to 7.508 (it was disconnected from our network for a good while) but the migration took 12-15 minutes. We only have IPS running on top of the base license for whatever that's worth. We haven't upgraded our other 2 ASG 120s (also IPS added) or our ASG 220 yet (220 has IPS and web filtering). The 120 was the test with the soft-release method.

    I have tried to Upgrade from 7.508 to 8.002 with an ASG 110 (1GB, old Version with VIA 800Mhz CPU).
    The Upgrade did not work. The ASG crashed.
    I tried to do the Upgrade via VPN because the ASG in another Office about 100km away from here. On Monday or Tuesday the ASG will arrive here. Then i can report more things about the "Upgrade" :-)
