ASG120 V8.001 and V8.002 stops responding/unavailable

Hi,

I have some strange behaviour with my Astaro ASG120.

It runs some time and at all of a sudden at stops responding. The internal and external ip adress are not reachable any more.

I tested this with V8.001 and V8.002 same issue, unit has 1GB of RAM.

The only way to get the ASG up and running again is to use the on/off switch at the back of the unit. After that it will work again some time and then it stops again.

I notice that during the time the unit doesn't work, there is no orange (hdd) led activity.

I cannot find anything usefull in the log files.

Any ideas what can cause this strange behauviour?

    IPA, it does look like PostgreSQL.  Can you tell us if the problem went away after the database updates?

    My guess would be that, if you reverted to V7, the subsequent upgrade went fine because you no longer had the large reporting databases.  If so, that could be a hint to some folks that, in the days before an upgrade to V8, they should reduce the amount of retained reports to 3 or 4 months instead of 6.  Then during the upgrade, also leave IPS off to minimize the load.

    The problem persisted even after a fresh install of 8.002 from the ISO.  I did downgrade to 7.507 since I couldn't have the system failing and causing business interruptions waiting to troubleshoot v8.  7.507 is running stable.  

    I included some additional top captures from when the system was freezing if that helps anyone else.
