ASG120 V8.001 and V8.002 stops responding/unavailable

Hi,

I have some strange behaviour with my Astaro ASG120.

It runs some time and at all of a sudden at stops responding. The internal and external ip adress are not reachable any more.

I tested this with V8.001 and V8.002 same issue, unit has 1GB of RAM.

The only way to get the ASG up and running again is to use the on/off switch at the back of the unit. After that it will work again some time and then it stops again.

I notice that during the time the unit doesn't work, there is no orange (hdd) led activity.

I cannot find anything usefull in the log files.

Any ideas what can cause this strange behauviour?

    Does the Executive Report indicate that memory or CPU or bandwidth is maxed when the ASG fails to respond?

    That is interesting; in 7.4xx or 7.5xx, Astaro introduced support for a hardware watchdog on the ASG110/120 units; that is, if the software does not reset a timer in the hardware every so often, the watchdog hardware will issue a hardware reset -- so, unless support for this is broken in 8.***, then something really strange is going on.  A simple protection fault or kernel oops should end with a hardware reset via the watchdog timer.  Since you are running an ASG110/120 ... and I assume you have a commercial license for it -- I'd start a support case with Astaro.

    Similar issue for me on a AS220.  The system will hang/freeze intermittently.  It causes all traffic to stop or the responses to absolutely crawl.  The problem is the CPU loads up to 100%, but since nothing is responsive during this time, I cannot determine which process it is.  I had thought it was the IPS and IM/P2P scannners as those were showing abnormally high CPU use, but the issue persisted with those services disabled.

    Have a ticket opened with Support now, but I feel I will revert to 7.507 before I hear from them as this is causing a major business headache.

    IPA, I have 220 too and I planned to migrate soon to v8. Did you solved your problem with support?
